Ratchet AI ("Ratchet", "we", "us") is an AI-powered automotive assistant for iOS. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights around it.

Account information

• Email address, used to create and identify your account

  Conversation data   

• Messages you send and responses from Ratchet

• Photos you attach to conversations

• Conversation titles and history

  Vehicle and diagnostic data   

•   OBD2 fault codes read from your vehicle

•   Live sensor data (RPM, coolant temperature, fuel level, etc.)

•   Vehicle identification number (VIN) and decoded year/make/model

  Voice and audio

•  Microphone audio processed on-device by iOS for speech recognition — raw audio is never sent to our servers

•  Text derived from your speech is sent to our AI service the same as typed messages

  Usage data

•  Number of questions asked (for subscription limit tracking)

•  Subscription status and tier

• To generate AI responses to your automotive questions

•  To maintain conversation history across sessions

•  To display past OBD2 scan results and fault code context

•  To manage your subscription and enforce usage limits

•   - To improve response quality and app reliability

  We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

 Each service receives only the data necessary for its function. Anthropic receives your message text and conversation context. RevenueCat receives your subscription status. Voice text is sent to our TTS provider only when voice mode is active.

 Bluetooth — Used to connect to OBD2 adapters. Bluetooth data stays on-device and is not transmitted to our servers beyond the diagnostic data you choose to discuss with Ratchet.

 Microphone — Used for hands-free voice mode. Audio is processed on-device by iOS; only the resulting text is sent for AI processing.

 Camera / Photo Library — Used only when you choose to attach an image to a conversation.

Conversation history is stored on our servers (hosted on Railway) and associated with your account. You can delete your entire conversation history at any time from Settings → Clear All History in the app.

Ratchet is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted by updating the date at the top of this page.
