Welcome to Ratchet AI OBD2 Mechanic ("Ratchet," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Ratchet mobile app, website, subscriptions, AI diagnostic features, OBD2 scanner features, voice features, and related services.

By using Ratchet, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Ratchet AI.

• Ratchet provides AI-assisted automotive diagnostic guidance, OBD2 scan interpretation, live vehicle data explanations, repair suggestions, maintenance guidance, and related educational information.

• Ratchet is intended to help you better understand vehicle issues. Ratchet is not a substitute for a certified mechanic, professional inspection, manufacturer service information, or safe repair practices.

Ratchet may provide suggestions based on information you enter, photos you upload, OBD2 data, diagnostic trouble codes, vehicle symptoms, and AI-generated analysis.

You understand and agree that:

• Ratchet may be incomplete, inaccurate, or wrong

• Vehicle problems can have multiple causes

• OBD2 data may be unavailable, delayed, unsupported, or incorrect

• AI-generated information should be independently verified

• You are responsible for deciding whether to perform any repair

• You should consult a qualified mechanic when safety, emissions, warranty, electrical, fuel, brake, steering, suspension, airbag, or engine damage risks are involved

Do not rely on Ratchet as your only source of diagnosis or repair instruction.

Safety

You agree not to use Ratchet in a way that creates unsafe conditions.

• Do not use the app while actively driving

• Do not perform repairs unless the vehicle is safely parked and secured

• Use proper tools, protective equipment, jack stands, ventilation, and safe procedures

• Do not work on high-voltage, airbag, fuel, brake, steering, or other hazardous systems unless you are qualified

• Follow all vehicle manufacturer warnings and service procedures

You are solely responsible for your safety and the safety of others.

Some Ratchet features require a compatible OBD2 adapter and a vehicle that supports the requested data.

Ratchet may support certain Bluetooth, BLE, ELM327-compatible, Veepeak, V011-style, and OBDLink devices, but compatibility is not guaranteed. Some adapters may pair with your phone but fail to provide reliable vehicle data.

OBDLink MX+ support on iOS depends on Apple External Accessory/iAP compatibility and the supported OBDLink protocol.

Ratchet is not responsible for adapter defects, vehicle compatibility limitations, connection failures, inaccurate sensor data, or unsupported diagnostic modes.

You may need an account to use certain features. You agree to provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials secure.

You are responsible for all activity under your account.

Ratchet may offer free, trial, paid, Pro, Unlimited, or other subscription plans.

Subscriptions may be purchased through Apple in-app purchase, Stripe Checkout, or another supported payment provider depending on where you subscribe.

Subscription billing, cancellation, renewals, refunds, and trials may be governed by the payment provider used for your purchase.

• If you subscribe through Apple, manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings

• If you subscribe through the website, manage billing through the payment flow or support process provided by Ratchet

Prices and plan features may change over time.

Unlimited plans are subject to fair use limits to prevent automated, abusive, excessive, resale, or non-personal usage.

We may limit, throttle, suspend, or terminate usage that we believe is abusive or harmful to the service, including unusually high automated requests, excessive AI usage, excessive voice generation, scraping, shared-account abuse, or attempts to resell access.

You may submit text, photos, vehicle information, OBD2 scan results, diagnostic trouble codes, live sensor data, audio, and other content.

You grant Ratchet permission to process this content to provide app functionality, diagnostics, account history, support, safety improvements, analytics, and service improvement.

You represent that you have the right to submit the content you provide.

Do not submit content that is illegal, harmful, infringing, private information of others, or unrelated to vehicle diagnosis.

Ratchet uses AI systems that may generate incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or unsafe information.

AI output is provided for informational and educational purposes only. You are responsible for verifying any recommendation before acting on it.

Do not use Ratchet for emergency situations. If a vehicle condition creates an immediate safety risk, stop driving when safe and contact roadside assistance, emergency services, or a qualified professional.

You agree not to:

• Use Ratchet for illegal purposes

• Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or attack the service

• Use automated systems to generate excessive requests

• Share, resell, or commercially exploit your account without permission

• Upload malicious, misleading, or infringing content

• Interfere with the security or operation of Ratchet

• Use Ratchet while driving in a distracting or unsafe way

Ratchet may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may update models, supported adapters, pricing, plan limits, or functionality.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.

Ratchet is provided "as is" and "as available."

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that Ratchet will diagnose any vehicle issue correctly or prevent damage, repair costs, accidents, emissions failures, warranty issues, or safety problems.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ratchet, its owners, employees, contractors, affiliates, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including vehicle damage, repair costs, lost profits, loss of data, personal injury, or property damage arising from your use of the service.

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with Ratchet is to stop using the service.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Ratchet, its owners, employees, contractors, affiliates, and service providers from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of Ratchet, your content, your repairs, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, misuse the service, create risk for others, or use the service in a way that may harm Ratchet or other users

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on our website with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of Ratchet after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
